Inferno. One of the most popular and enduring maps in Counter-Strike history. Some of the greatest games of all time have been played out in the streets of this Italian map, and it has cemented its legacy as perhaps the greatest decider map in history. Whether you’re executing B, popping out of Apartments, or trying to take some map control, Inferno is one of those maps that simply can’t be played without a coherent understanding of the basic utility.
Sure, there are some fun gimmick spots, but without good utility you’re getting nowhere. Luckily for you, that’s what we’re here to show you. In another of our Utility Secrets series, we’re jumping into the storied streets of Inferno and going through five of the most important nades on de_Inferno. Let’s jump in.
CT Smoke
Arguably one of the most important smokes on the entire map, the CT smoke is crucial for your T-Side attempts to take the B site. With the advent of CS2, the CT smoke meta has changed somewhat. Now, there is an effective and simple lineup which will allow you to smoke both the entirety of CT, and the irritating boost spot. Here’s how to throw it.
First, you’re going to get stuck in the corner of the barrels in Banana, as shown:

Next, you’re going to need to find the leftmost corner of the overhanging roof on the tower. Once you’ve found that corner, raise your crosshair vertically until it just touches the brickwork as shown below:

Now it’s just a simple left-click throw to deny the rotating CTs any information on your cross to the bombsite.

Newbox Molly
Staying on the B site for a moment, we’re going to take a look at an important Molotov. This will burn any hiding CTs out from Newbox – a very common defensive rat spot.
First, get stuck into the corner of Car as shown:

Once you’re tucked in, position your crosshair here:

Then simply left-click to burn out any annoying B site anchor.

Moto Smoke
Moving from B site over to A site, we’re going to look at one of the most useful smokes you can throw to separate Long and A site. Whether you’re going for an A site hit or a Long-to-B wrap, the Moto smoke is a very important piece of utility. Let’s learn it.
From Mid, you’re going to get yourself lined up in the center of the gutter.

Next, find the bottom of the bulb on this overhanging light.

Finally, jumpthrow. Boom – you have a perfect Moto smoke.

Pit Molly
For a T-side player trying to take control of the A site, a competent Pit defender is one of the most irritating opponents to deal with. Unless he’s on fire. Let’s show you how to burn him out of his hidey-hole.
First, line up with the fencing inside apps as shown below:

Next, edge yourself out into the corridor until you see these spikes on the wall:

Finally, it’s yet another simple left-click throw. Enjoy the hissing sound as the CT is forced to leave Pit.

Chimney Flash
Of course, no Inferno utility article would be complete without one of the most overpowered flashes in the game. The Chimney flash is absurdly useful for your teammates scaling up onto the A site, and is also one of the simplest lineups to remember.
First, line up in the center of the vertical beam in Apps as shown below.

Next, crouch and find the windows of the tower.

Then simply left-click, and blind the CTs on the bomb site.
So, there you have it! A complete run-down of five of the most useful pieces of utility on Inferno.
