Home to many iconic moments in Counter-Strike history, Inferno is one of the most recognizable maps in all of Counter-Strike. Beyond the fruit-inspired callouts, flamenco guitar music, and crises while playing with a coach, Inferno can be extremely punishing for poor utility knowledge, and bad positioning.

Boosts are a great way to counter the swaths of utility, and to mix up your positioning. In this blog, we’ll cover the essential boosts for de_inferno in Counter-Strike 2.

Behind Newbox

In Global Offensive, you could jump onto the top of Newbox with the help of a teammate, however in CS2, this isn’t possible. This makes the Newbox boost a bit less attractive since it now requires two players to hold the elevated position, but it’s still worth knowing. It’s best used in conjunction with a third player, somewhere else on the bombsite because of how easily this boost can compromise two players.

CT

One of the most well-known boosts in the game, this boost onto a ledge in CT B site is useful to see over a smoke, catching off T players running into the bombsite, as seen above. Unfortunately, this boost can be nullified by a smoke that was made possible with the new version of the map, introduced with the release of CS2. It’s still worth deploying, as not everyone knows the smoke, especially at lower skill levels.

“Yellow” Boost

Also known as “corner boost” or “FalleN”, this boost goes by many a moniker. Extremely effective in the early round, particularly with the AWP, this is best deployed to get an opening pick before quickly falling back to the bombsite. When performing the boost, it’s important that the boosting player is not visible around the corner. Additionally, they should be playing anti-flash by looking into the wall.

Half-wall

This boost, performed by the T side, is great for catching off unsuspecting CTs, if timed correctly. The area behind the wall it can be done from is pretty wide. However, I wouldn’t recommend performing this right up against the half-wall, as that would leave you more susceptible to an AWP wall-bang.

Porch

An essential part of any brackets defense, the Porch side boost is key to keeping a fresh look to your CT side on Inferno. You can also make it up to this elevated position via some clean movement, but to get up here consistently, and without making a sound queue, a boost is ideal. Mix this position in early and often.

How to find your own boosts using Refrag

It’s incredibly easy to craft your own clever head-stacks with Refrag.

In an empty server running the NADR mod, you can use the .botboost command to spawn a bot directly below you. Go to a position you’d like to test a boost in and type the command.

To see what it would look like from the enemy’s POV, from the top of the boost, aim at the spot you would peek from as the enemy and type .bot. Then, type .bring to teleport that bot to your current position. You’re now free to noclip out from the boost and see what it looks like from the enemy’s POV.
